B2B service provider Alternative Networks

has reported a 65% increase in pretax profits for the six months to March 31.Turnover was up 43%, with ICB contributing £7 million, and roughly half its sales coming from mobile.

A third of its profits growth was organic, it said last week. The business has also expanded following the acquisition of rival service provider Integrated Communications for Business (ICB) in October for a reduced cost of £6.2 million.

Alternative Networks also reported that its mobile subscribers doubled during the period to 37,589, from 17,518 in 2005. Churn has reduced to 16% from 24% at the end of 2005.

“In the last 24 months the key driver has been corporate mobile voice and data products, which now represent 50% of our sales” said the companyAlternative Networks renewed its Vodafone service provider agreement for a further two years in February 2006 and retains its status as an O2 service provider.
