Carphone Offers Mystery Nokia

This week The Carphone Warehouse has been advertising the Nokia 8600 Luna as an exclusive for pre-order with supposed delivery next week, although Nokia are keeping schtum.

"The Nokia 8600 mobile phone isn't merely fashionable: it's elegant as well. The rounded corners and smooth features give it an almost-futuristic appearance - as does the easy-to-read high-resolution display screen. And the whole thing is wrapped in a stainless steel body with a unique smoked glass sliding cover that protects the keypad but still enables you to access the phone's main functions."

That's how carphonewarehouse.co.uk are pitching the new high-end fashion handset from Nokia.

Carphone are offering the handset on three O2 tariffs - free with O2 50 over 18 months, £170 with O2 50 over 12 months, and £300 with O2 30 over 12 months.

Nokia, however, have not made any noises about their new device with no official announcement or launch. It would seem that Carphone are trying to create a lot of hype to turn the 8600 into the next must-have and shift the handset from stores, as the feature set is doesn't seem anything to write home about.

Made of stainless steel with a semi-transparent glass slider on the front, and available in jet black this phone will appeal to the fashion conscious. The quadband handset includes a 2-megapixel digital camera, FM radio, integrated stereo Bluetooth, and a built-in media player covering a wide range of audio formats, along with 128mb of memory and a 240x320 screen.
