The 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show last month in Las Vegas (where else?) had 1.7m square feet of exhibit space, 65 miles of carpet, 2,700 exhibitors and over 140,000 increasingly footsore attendees.

It’s the world’s largest consumer technology trade exhibition, of course. So it was slightly disappointing to report that exciting new mobile phones were thin on the ground, especially for the 25,000 international visitors.

Apple wasn’t there, for a start, and the iPhone’s launch at Macworld in San Francisco rather stole the limelight phone-wise. LG didn’t have the Prada phone or the new Shine, and Sony Ericsson didn’t have a stand.

We did however find a handful of phones that (a) look good and (b) look destined for European availability ...
