Reports from Credit Suisse and Dresdner Kleinwort highlight early signs of a turnaround in European operators’ Q4 results via growth in mobile data services, such as user-generated content, mobile TV, data cards and mobile email.
On average, mobile data service revenues in Q4 were up 12.2% on the year-before period, said Credit Suisse; and Dresdner estimates the average year-on-year data services revenue growth was 14.6% in Q4.
A similar trend is seen in ARPU, with Credit Suisse estimating Q4 data service ARPU at E5.28 – 18.9% of the total ARPU of E27.90. A year before total ARPU was E29 with data representing E5.10 of that.
