The Bluetooth SIG announced a new specification that requires fewer steps to pair two Bluetooth devices. The new standard, called Version 2.1 + EDR (for Enhanced Data Rate), means users will receive secure encryption automatically and won’t have not to enter a PIN manually. It also claims increases the battery life of devices such as keyboards and mice by up to five times.
