Gareth Jones stepped down from his role as Chief Operating Officer of 3 at the end of 2005. He joined the company in May 2003 and as COO and has overseen the sales, customer service and marketing departments.Jones said: “I came out of retirement to work for Bob for an agreed period of time and I have now achieved the business objectives I set myself ... It’s an exciting two and half years and I’m now looking forward to a well-earned rest with my family and looking for my next challenge.”We liked his comment remarks to a magazine a few weeks about the mobile internet. “People don’t want open access, that’s not what our customers tell us they want. Anyone in their right mind who tries to do anything on the Internet with a screen that size has to be nuts.”
