This is being billed as the world’s slimmest eight megapixel touch phone, with a huge emphasis on the camera element of the design. The Pixon, from its name to its 13.8mm design and 3.2 inch full touch screen user interface, looks set to lead the way in camera and phone convergence.
The Samsung Pixon is the second 8-megapixel camera phone launch from Samsung, following the unveiling of the Samsung i8510 in August 2008. Yet this one actually looks like a camera thanks to the 3.2 inch screen, and also boasts an array of features more regularly seen in standalone cameras, with x16 digital zoom, autofocus, fast-shutter, face detection and geo-tagging, which are all part of the package.
To ensure this functionality is achieved, the Samsung Pixon also comes with an integrated photo browser that allows easy photo sharing and viewing, to compliment the high quality picture capability.
This one looks good and with its petit frame, is likely to appeal more to the female market and fashion-conscious men than its rival, the chunky Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot range.
