laptop, once again proving that applications through BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices are the way of the future. Here’s how it works.
Impatica ShowMate is the first device of its kind to allow BlackBerry and other Smartphone users to project PowerPoint presentations directly from their handhelds, without the need for a laptop computer. A pocket-sized device that weighs less than three ounces, ShowMate supports full-featured PowerPoint presentations including rich text, images, charts, graphs, animations and slide transition effects. Impatica ShowMate not only allows Smartphone users to break free from their laptop, it provides the presenter with full access to the presentation content on the handheld screen while the audience remains focused on the presentation. Impatica ShowMate literally transforms the BlackBerry or other wireless device into the ultimate presentation tool—a veritable “personal teleprompter”. Impatica ShowMate includes everything you need to “impaticize” PowerPoint presentations on a desktop and transfer them to their Smartphone. Once on the handheld, the PowerPoint presentation can easily be view or projected.
Impatica for BlackBerry Enterprise Server seamlessly “impaticizes” PowerPoint e-mail attachments into a compact format that can be viewed on and/or projected from the BlackBerry handheld.
Impatica now also produces Impatica Virtual Office Dock. This software product provides a fully integrated environment between the user’s PC and their Smartphone. The user simply installs the Impatica Virtual Office Dock software on their PC or Mac to access their Smartphone within a resizable window. Connection is via Bluetooth or USB to the desktop or notebook PC.
Users can navigate their handheld applications securely using your PC keyboard, type information and see the results on their PC monitor. Shared clipboards allow the user to copy information from the PC and paste to the Smartphone and vice-versa. Users can easily configure their own convenience icons to quickly launch or switch applications on the handheld, without returning to their handheld’s home screen. Dial and receive phone calls, see and use on screen phone controls or dial from other PC applications using shortcuts.
There is no need to keep checking the handheld screen. Heads-up notification of key events such as incoming calls and corresponding caller ID will save users a great deal of time accepting hands calls and other events without touching their Smartphone.
Impatica ShowMate really impressed, as the idea of being able to give a PowerPoint presentation while commanding the room – all from your handheld – seems too good to be true but I promise you it really isn’t. It’s a great product and it is used by BlackBerry (RIM) guys themselves as well as the networks to show how BlackBerry and Windows mobile devices as value as more than just a phone, this is definitely my star application for this month.
