Nokia to share web browser

Nokia has decided to open up its mobile phone web browser software to the world. The aim is a higher level of interoperability between mobiles; Nokia’s S60 browser and the WebKit source code is well regarded, and Nokia’s move has been received favourably – though it could be seen as a spoiler for other web browsers, notably Opera Mobile which also runs on Symbian. The Nokia S60 browser development kit is available at www.webkit.org.
