Samsung i550

You'd have thought Samsung have brought out enough phones recently, but the rumourmill is grinding away with news that a GPS enabled handset is on its way.

The i550 is supposed to be a GPS-enabled smartphone, accessible via a dedicated key , running on Symbian OS S60 UI. The first Samsung GPS-enabled smartphone, sporting 3G and HSDPA (3.6 Mbps).

Other specifications include a 2.6" display, a nice sized camera at 3.2 megapixels, FM radio with a 3.5 mm jack, 128 MB RAM, microSD card slot and microUSB.

All this functionality is packed into surprisingly small dimensions of 115 x 53 x 13.8 mm.

From the one picture that's doing the rounds, it would also seem that navigation is via a trackball much like the Blackberry Pearl.

The overall design looks a little dated, and doesn't bare much resemblance to other Sammy handsets on the market, looking more like the layout from a Sony model.

Will this see the light of day, or will it stay consigned to the rumour bin?
