T-Mobile Ameo

Networks & Network Services
Is it a laptop? Is it a phone? Being billed as an Ultra Mobile PC, the T-Mobile Ameo is certainly a new take on a PDA phone, and it's got the specs to match.
Measuring a mahoosive 133x97x20mm this handset is more than your average PDA phone being twice the size, but how else are you going to fit in a 5 inch screen. That's right, the Ameo boasts a 5", 480x640 VGA touchscreen. The screen part of the phone slots into the keyboard for use on a desk, or detaches for carting around in a leather case.

The handset (we use the term loosely) also benefits from an 8gb hard drive,  plus a miniSD slot just in case that's not enough.

With regards to connectivity, the Ameo is reputed to be HSDPA/UMTS Tri-mode (2100MHz for Europe and 850/1900MHz for USA) and GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad band (850/900/1800/1900), and comes with bluetooth 2.0 and in-built WiFi.

Not enough? Then maybe the 624mhz processor running Windows Mobile, 3 mega pixel and forward-facing VGA cameras, and the built-in GPS chip set will satiate you.

The Ameo should be available within the next month, exclusive to T-Mobile. After a few weeks it should get wider roll-out as the HTC Athena.
