T -MOBILE LAYS DOWN THE GAUNTLET

T-Mobile is obviously confident about its new Business 1-Plan tariffs – it has launched a Business 1-Plan Calculator on the web that allows Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to review their mobile spending to see if current price plans are giving them the best value.

The user enters their current voice, text and data use to get a Business 1-Plan quote. They can then compare this to their current monthly bill to review potential cost savings.
It’s likely that Business 1-Plan will indeed come up trumps, since it allows businesses to tailor their own mix of mobile allowance across voice, data and SMS – and share that among up to 250 users, if required.
By a not particularly surprising coincidence, SME research conducted by T-Mobile and YouGov has found that SMEs spend around £763 per month on their mobile bills – but almost a third have not reviewed these costs for two years or more.
The complexity of business price plans is cited as a major issue, with 33% of these companies admitting to finding mobile bills difficult to understand. Lack of flexibility is also highlighted: 60% feel that the ‘one size fits all’ approach of their mobile price plans makes it difficult to select the right plan for their specific business needs, and 35% commented that traditional price plans lack the flexibility to address their individual business needs at all.
And 69% of these SME managers also believe it would be easier to predict monthly bills and control business costs more effectively if all mobile voice, data and text services were included in one simple plan.
All of which suggests that TMobile and its resellers should be on to a winner here. Simon Ainslie, T-Mobile UK’s Director of Business Sales, has decided that “UK business is crying out for mobile plans tailored to individual business needs where they can pick their own allocations of voice, data or text.”
