The company has been nominated for the annual North West Business Environment Award for Best Environmental Practice. The category recognises ‘exceptional improvements in business performance achieved through good environmental management’.
This follows a concerted effort from the company to reduce its carbon footprint over recent years through measures to improve energy efficiency and promote recycling throughout its operations.
This effort is led on a day to day level by the company’s green team of volunteers from across the UK business who act as environmental ambassadors, working to involve employees at all levels in hitting stringent green targets.
The North West Business Environment Awards ceremony is held next month at a dinner at Old Trafford football Stadium. 20:20 Mobile will find out then if it has been successful.
Also, in an innovative move to promote recycling in the company, 20:20 Mobile has given its old staff uniforms to the Red Cross; following the company’s successful rebranding earlier this year. The uniforms, including nearly a thousand jumpers, shirts and T-shirts, will go to help the Red Cross’s disaster relief efforts around the world.
Commenting on the NW Environment Awards, 20:20 Mobile’s UK managing director, James Browning, said: “It’s a great achievement to have been nominated for this award and testament to the hard work throughout the company in minimising our harmful impacts on the environment. Our Green Team makes a fantastic contribution to helping us achieve stretching our targets for reducing our energy use and increasing our recycling and this nomination is a reflection of all their hard work and persistence in driving forward this agenda from within the business.”
20:20 Mobile’s quality manager, Steve Holland, added: “We take out commitments to the environment and charities very seriously and it was fantastic to combine both by donating our old uniforms to such a worthy charity, knowing that they will be put to good use.”
