2e2 secures data centre contract following Netstore acquisition

2e2 today announces that its recently acquired subsidiary, Netstore, has secured a multi million pound contract with Viatel to provide data centre space for an initial three-year term.

Under the terms of the contract 2e2 Netstore will provide Viatel with data centre capacity, allowing them to supply their customers with metered billing for power on co-location services, plus full access to their broad range of network services including Internet access, Ethernet and IPVPN. This brand new, state of the art, dual resilient data centre is situated in Reading, Berkshire. The facility is a high power, energy efficient installation that is fully secure with a 24/7/365 fully managed service capability.

“Viatel is delighted to have agreed this partnership with 2e2,” commented Lucy Woods, Viatel CEO. “We are growing extremely fast and this high power data centre allows us to offer our customers expansion facilities or new space for their requirements. We are very excited by this enhancement to our portfolio.”

Coming only a matter of days after 2e2 announced the completion of its £57 million acquisition of Netstore, this long-term contract can be seen as an early justification of that deal, reinforcing the value that customers and prospects alike perceive in the combined strengths of the merged organisations. 2e2 now has a best in class data centre capability, further strengthening both its managed services portfolio and the delivery of Security as a Service

Terry Burt, CEO of 2e2 commented, “I said at the time of the Netstore acquisition that the coming together of two such strong and well established names in the IT services industry would add further momentum to 2e2 as a major force in the UK market. This agreement with Viatel shows that to be the case.”
