5i sees opportunity in the visual collaboration market with Cisco

Reseller 5i has announced its support for Cisco’s extended visual collaboration suite across its full range of systems design and managed service offerings, following the successful acquisition of Tandberg by Cisco.

5i’s collaboration solutions encompass complex messaging, mobility, real time communications, telephony, contact centres, multi media, collaboration, conferencing and video technologies across multiple communication modes and devices under a single managed support contract.

Peter Howells, 5i’s managing director, said: “Our experience in Unified Communications shows us that organisations shouldn’t initially focus on video conferencing endpoints when it comes to evaluating or implementing visual collaboration technology. Instead, they should deploy a total solution that lays down a foundation for management, control and performance. That, in turn, will support whatever features and endpoints they, and their end users, need - today, and in the future.”

Howells adds: “Our relationship with industry leading technology providers such as Cisco allows us to plan, design, deploy and manage effective visual collaboration solutions that meet these goals.”

5i is marking its entry to the visual collaboration market with a packaged approach focused on enhancing the UC experience for the many thousands of organisations which have already deployed Cisco Unified Communications or IP telephony. 5i will be offering a range of pre-packaged and tested solutions for the small-to-medium business sector that comprise all the hardware, software and support services required to establish visual collaboration and telepresence in an organisation and keep it running as smoothly as possible.

In addition, 5i are launching an extension of their UNIFY Managed Unified Communications service whereby organisations engaged in the UNIFY ACTIVE+ support service will be provided with a free Cisco TelePresence PrecisionHD USB camera, allowing them to interact with 5i’s live video helpdesk.

Jeremy Bevan, European director of Cisco TelePresence marketing at Cisco, commented “5i’s track record as a Cisco Advanced Unified Communications Specialized Partner makes it a natural choice to help us bring Cisco TelePresence and collaboration solutions to the UK commercial market. Video can transform organizations, helping customers drive new levels of productivity and innovation by improving the quality of interactions both inside and outside the company. Video is a critical element of Cisco’s overall collaboration architecture, and both new and existing Cisco Unified Communications customers can benefit from video with minimal disruption to their existing IT operations. 5i will be instrumental in bringing the benefits of video to customers.”
