Plantronics Integrate With Cisco

Plantronics has announced new integration between the Voyager Legend UC wearable device and Cisco’s new smart desk phone, the Cisco Desktop Collaboration Experience DX650. This integration between the Plantronics device and Cisco’s Android-based phone will give users the ability to utilize different types of contextual information, like identifying a user’s location relevant to their desks, to significantly enhance the user experience.

Plantronics developers, working closely with Cisco engineers, created a solution that delivers unique benefits for those using the new smart desk phone with the Voyager Legend UC. They include Seamless Call Transfer: the ability to easily transfer a call from a mobile device to the Cisco DX650 based on a user’s proximity to the phone. In addition, this contextual data about a user’s location is able to “Smart Lock” the Cisco DX650 when the user walks away. This provides customers with another layer of security on top of the extensive security capabilities already built in to the Cisco DX650. The Voyager Legend UC can also access the phone book and provide the user with audible caller ID for incoming calls on the Cisco DX650.

“Plantronics builds great products that do much more than send and receive audio. These tiny devices can collect and deliver information about the user’s world. Bringing this context into the processes people do every day makes life easier by anticipating users’ needs,” said Joe Burton, senior vice president of Technology, Development & Strategy and CTO at Plantronics. “The Cisco DX650 and wearable technology from Plantronics deliver the ability for people to move a call from their mobile to their Cisco DX650 when they get in the office and want to launch a richer experience like a video conference. This unique solution also enables users to automatically lock the Cisco DX650 when they walk away and enable it to accept their password the moment they return.”
