Activity Report – Crane Telecommunications

Comms Business Magazine has spoken to the business unit managers at Crane to get an update for readers on activity within the distributor – and there’s lots of activity at Crane to report besides the changeover from LG to Samsung.

The Crane Nortel division is offering resellers a CS1000 product bundle to target the 50 to 250 users segment. The distributor says the offers are designed to help resellers drive incremental sales of CS1000 into the mid market space by simplifying the selling process and for VoIP solutions offers savings of up to 28% over standard pricing.

Crane is now able to supply the complete Nortel data portfolio saying that many items are available from stock, including the more popular LAN switching and POE ranges. The focus is to provide the LAN infrastructure to support converged voice deployments.

Since early April Crane has transitioned to a new logistics model working directly with Nortel's UK distribution centres. This replaces the previous complex supply chain management that operated via BT. Operating directly with Nortel, including reverse logistics, will simplify the process and make possible a number of customer service enhancements.

Channel Marketing Manager Faith Wheller reports that the expanded Mitel team at Crane is currently on a reseller recruitment drive and holding regional roadshows and that the market leading promotion of 46% margin on Mitel 3300 CX is going really well

The recently formed Crane Converged Solutions division launched BT net at the start of July and Trapeze, Spectrum and Spectralink are now signed as part of this new division with more announcements on vendors to be made shortly.

Runa MacLeod of the Crane Avaya unit is launching their New York incentive for SMBS and ECG resellers as well as regional MultiVantage Express (MVE) roadshows.

“I believe that we are the only distributor offering MVE specific technical training courses in the channel. MVE is an exciting product and many of our IP Office resellers, familiar with the ‘all in one box’ concept find the MVE strategy similar. Mobility applications are however fully extended and sophisticated.”

A new website has been launched to support Crane’s latest vendor, Samsung at www.cranesamsung.co.uk. The new team is already actively recruiting new partners. Crane is offering a low cost of entry to resellers looking to take on the Samsung range which includes free sales and tech training, installation and maintenance support.

Additionally Crane will be offering an incentive for a trip to Korea for resellers based on sales achieved.
