Pilgrims Hospice offer three locations in Kent (Ashford, Canterbury and Margate) and each branch offers a wonderful haven not just for those final days, but for anybody with a terminal illness who needs a break. Their day centres are one of the most positive places to visit and meet new friends. The day centres are filled with laughter, games, chatting and maybe the odd glass of sherry, the staff and volunteers provide such a welcoming environment.
AKJ are so very proud to be helping out in the little ways we can. This year’s fundraising included a giant spare change jar on reception, regular competitions and by far the most popular – the charity tuck shop. A small snack shop was set up within the main kitchen offering discounted chocolate, crisps and other goodies, with proceeds going to Pilgrims Hospice. All this effort (and eating) has accumulated over the year and built up to a respectable sum – with special thanks going to the chocoholics amongst us.
