Alcatel-Lucent Announces HSDPA Version Of Omniaccess 3500

Alcatel-Lucent plans to support high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA)-based 3G networks on its OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian, an ‘always on’ laptop security and management system for the mobile workforce. The OA3500 NLG is currently available for CDMA networks.

European service providers with HSDPA networks can combine the OA3500 NLG with their 3G services to provide a turnkey laptop security solution for enterprises and government agencies. UK-based managed service providers n3k and Magdalene are the first to explore offering a fully managed turnkey solution to European enterprises.

“With mobility security so high on the minds of our enterprise and government customers, it makes sense for us to explore a managed security service; and the comprehensive nature of Alcatel-Lucent’s OmniAccess 3500 NLG makes it a perfect platform for this,” said Keith Lamport, director of business development for managed security services for Magdalene.

“We have a long history of teaming with Alcatel-Lucent on enterprise software and are excited by the prospect of moving into the mobile security market with the OmniAccess 3500 NLG,” said Julian Rigg, managing director, n3k.
