The announcement follows a nine month collaboration between call management and fraud prevention software developers Callista and Alcatel-Lucent which has resulted in Callista's Control Phreak active voice security system being made available to Alcatel-Lucent’s reseller channel as an intelligent, automatic value-added solution.
Phreaking often results in a phone bill up to 100 times higher than normal and the UK has been identified by the CFCA as one of the top five destinations targeted by phreakers. It has been estimated that the crime costs British business £1.5 billion annually – five times more than credit card fraud. Control Phreak adds considerable muscle to Alcatel-Lucent’s resident security by providing automatic protection around the clock against toll fraud, identifying and killing all illegal phone traffic whilst allowing all legitimate traffic to flow without any monitoring or restriction.
