Alcatel-Lucent Opts for VoiceFlex SIP Trunks

Alcatel-Lucent has announced that its IP PBX phone systems now support VoiceFlex Session Initial Protocol (SIP) trunks from Frontier Systems, giving businesses of all sizes in the UK a cost-effective, reliable way to connect to next generation networks.

VoiceFlex's SIP trunking uses voice over broadband to connect to its core IP network from any location. The company says enterprises can leverage SIP trunking from VoiceFlex to deliver superior business results and customer service capabilities, thereby leveraging their network investment to transform their business.

The SIP-based service is available to Alcatel-Lucent's OmniPCX Office customers in the UK, and provides them with potentially lower line rental costs than using dedicated ISDN connections. Further advantages include free calls to other SIP trunking users, and the ability to utilise non-geographic phone numbers, meaning that companies can offer local call rates to customers throughout the UK.

Alcatel-Lucent's customers can purchase a SIP-trunking account from VoiceFlex, which is then programmed into the Alcatel-Lucent's IP PBX. Customers will then be able to connect to the VoiceFlex IP network using SIP-trunking, over any broadband connection - irrespective of the user's location. In addition, by using SIP-trunking in conjunction with VoiceFlex's own broadband proposition, customers can benefit from further cost savings and increased quality of service.

Alcatel-Lucent say these operational efficiencies and the potential for new services delivery helps Alcatel-Lucent's customers differentiate themselves.

"Most businesses recognise that VoIP represents the way forward - it's now about finding the best method of implementation," said Paul Taylor, sales and marketing director at Frontier Systems. "SIP trunking offers a clear advantage for businesses that require next generation network connectivity, providing them with far greater flexibility and reduced operating and call costs, which can also be passed onto their customers."

"As a leader in next generation network delivery, Alcatel-Lucent continues to work proactively with providers of SIP trunking services to ensure full compatibility with its range of IP communications solutions," said Peter Tebbutt, for Alcatel-Lucent's enterprise activities in the UK. "VoiceFlex already has a proven track record in SIP-based service delivery, and we're pleased to be able to offer our customers the opportunity to take advantage of its services and expertise."
