Alcatel-Lucent Placed in Leaders Quadrant for Unified Communications

Alcatel-Lucent has announced it has been placed in the leaders quadrant of the recently published Gartner, Inc. “Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony,” authored by market researchers Steve Blood, Geoff Johnson and Jay Lassman and in the leaders quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications,” authored by Bern Elliott and Steve Blood.

Alcatel-Lucent says their global presence and strong telephony portfolio, led by its OmniPCX Enterprise communications server, positions Alcatel-Lucent on the short list for international organisations. Global partnerships announced in 2009 strengthen midsize and large enterprises solutions that are flexible, scalable and assist in the easy migration to unified communications (UC).

The Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch Instant Communications Suite (ICS) is the cornerstone of its UC solution, which can be deployed with elements of its native telephony portfolio or in partnership with products from a wide range of partners. According to Alcatel-Lucent, unified communications can drive cost savings for enterprises through reduced travel, improved productivity, and enhanced customer service.

“Alcatel-Lucent leverages its telephony heritage and global leadership in serving enterprises with open standards based solutions,” said Tom Burns, president of Alcatel-Lucent’s enterprise activities. “Alcatel-Lucent’s telephony and UC solutions offer key benefits for a dynamic enterprise, in which resources of the business – network, people, process and knowledge – are closely linked to drive top and bottom line growth.”
