Alcatel-Lucent & Sphinx Step Up Distribution Partnership With New Hires

Alcatel-Lucent and Sphinx today announced the appointment of two new recruits to Sphinx’s dedicated Alcatel-Lucent business unit, in order to further develop the distribution partnership and win new business.

Sphinx has appointed Annette Reynolds to head up the eight-person business unit and oversee the two companies’ ongoing reseller recruitment drive. This will involve recruiting new resellers as well as existing Sphinx partners, in order to help further grow Alcatel-Lucent’s UK enterprise distribution business, which has already seen a double-digit percentage increase during H1 2007, compared to the same period during 2006. Reynolds' focus will primarily be on recruiting partners which have experience of targeting mid-sized companies with convergence solutions.

Prior to joining Sphinx, Reynolds spent eight years working for Crane Telecommunications, where she held the position of head of sales for Crane’s Affinity Telecom business. During her time at Crane, Reynolds was also sales director for the company’s Nortel business unit, giving her extensive experience in the convergence field.

“My role will be to make it easier for both current and new partners to do business with Alcatel-Lucent, and help differentiate them from other convergence resellers through improved service delivery and support, fully taking advantage of Alcatel-Lucent’s end-to-end product proposition,” said Reynolds.

“With this senior appointment, Sphinx will be able to further marry its data and IP skills with Reynolds’ significant industry experience in voice and convergence,” said Mark Hatton, managing director at Sphinx. “Having worked both in distribution and in direct sales, Reynolds is well-placed to meet our needs and grow our business, as well as understanding the reseller perspective, and how we can best engage with partners to help them succeed in the convergence marketplace,”

Sphinx has also appointed Andy MacDonald to provide pre-sale support for the Alcatel-Lucent business unit. MacDonald, who is fully qualified to Expert level and has worked on Alcatel-Lucent solutions for ten years, will provide partners with additional expertise and lead-generation assistance, in order to help them meet their own growth objectives.

“One year on from our initial distribution agreement, Sphinx continues to demonstrate its commitment to Alcatel-Lucent, taking every step needed to ensure success in what is a very competitive market,” said Peter Tebbutt, regional support centre director for UK&I, Alcatel-Lucent enterprise activities. “We’re pleased to welcome Reynolds and MacDonald to Sphinx, and the team is now well-placed to build on its existing successes and further expand our business during 2008.”
