Allied Telesis Launches x510 Series

IT
Allied Telesis has announced the launch of the x510 Series of stackable Gigabit edge switches, delivering a full set of security, management and resiliency features that provide advanced edge connectivity for enterprise, healthcare, education, retail, government and service providers.

The x510 Series can be easily upgraded from full Layer 2+ functionality to an advanced Layer 3 feature-set, offering a versatile solution applicable to different sizes and types of enterprises. This series is designed using exclusive Allied Telesis VCStack technology, and offers 40G of stacking bandwidth. The built-in power supplies and EPSRing provide high-speed resilient access to online resources and applications, while providing continual delivery of essential services without affecting network uptime.

The long distance stacking technology deployed by Allied Telesis, in conjunction with the increased distance enabled by fiber connectivity, means that when in a virtual stack, the switches do not have to be collocated, but can be kilometers apart.

The x510 Series supports energy efficient Ethernet—a sophisticated feature that automatically reduces the power consumed by the switch when there is no traffic on any port. Together with the dual built-in efficient PSUs, this reduces power requirements and delivers significant reductions in operating costs.

The x510 Series offers PoE models, supporting PoE+, ideal for powering VoIP phones, Wireless Access Points, Zoom-in cameras, automatic doors and any other PoE-powered equipment without the need of external devices. The x510 Series supports dual identity (1G/10G) SFP+ uplink ports. The use of SFP+ interfaces for 10G and the fact they are dual-speed 1G/10G allows the customers to replace the old 1G uplink switch with the x510 Series today and easily upgrade their network to 10G tomorrow.

”The x510 series can connect anything from a small workgroup up to a large metropolitan network,” Jane Brett, sales director UKISA of Allied Telesis. “Long distance VCStack, which enables a stack to be created over long distance fibre links, makes the x510 Series the perfect choice for distributed environments.”
