APC Acquires NetBotz

American Power Conversion (APC), a leading global provider of high availability systems for network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI), has announced that it has completed the acquisition of privately held NetBotz, Inc., a leader in IP-based environmental and video monitoring solutions, for $31 million (approximately £17.5 million) in cash.

APC say the addition of NetBotz further strengthens their portfolio of products and services for NCPI. APC will integrate the NetBotz suite of data centre environmental and video monitoring solutions with APC’s InfraStruXure architecture, giving customers an end-to-end solution ensuring the availability of their critical network resources.

IT physical security is a top concern for many networking managers and NetBotz helps APC address this concern with their suite of security management products that complement APC’s InfraStruXure architecture for wiring closets, server rooms and large data centres. In addition to new software management capabilities, NetBotz will add video surveillance and an array of environmental sensors to APC’s InfraStruXure architecture, providing APC’s customers an early warning, active monitoring platform that can identify and resolve events before they result in downtime.

More than 2,700 organisations worldwide use NetBotz solutions for active monitoring, early detection and instant alerts to protect critical assets from damaging physical and environmental conditions. NetBotz helps organisations protect their business value by ensuring availability of critical infrastructure from environmental threats such as extreme heat and water leaks, human error and sabotage, and radioactive and chemical materials. The company’s products include monitoring appliances such as fluid detectors, particle sensors and motion detection cameras, management software, add-on hardware and software, and accessories. Austin, Texas, USA-based NetBotz employs 61 individuals.
