Ascom moves into Channel with triple hire

Workflow technology solutions provider Ascom has appointed three channel managers to help the company reach new market areas in the UK.

Mike Bennett joins as channel manager for the midlands. Mike has worked extensively with Ascom’s key enterprise markets, having previously held account management roles at Ruckus, Aruba and ISG Technology.

Matt Lock joins as business development manager. Matt has over ten years’ experience with channel partners having previously worked with Zyxel Communications UK and UniServity.

The pair are joined by Lloyd Harrington who brings a background in trade wi-fi distribution for firms including Xirrus, VCW Security and Horsebridge Network Systems. He joins as channel manager for our enterprise markets including hospitality, industry and retail.

The recruits will be charged with striking high-quality channel and distribution partnerships with vendors that excel technically, hold stock and work closely with customers who have complementary needs.

Paul Lawrence (pictured), managing director, Ascom UK said: “Shifting to adopt the channel model has been a big step for Ascom as our success in the UK to date has depended very much on cultivating close relationships with customers, ensuring we understand their needs and providing them with products that absolutely deliver.

“However the most essential factor of any piece of technology, hardware or software – is interoperability.

“The fact that technology now sits within a picture that is increasingly joined up means channel providers not only enable customers to get everything they need from one place – they also have topline visibility of interoperable solutions, as well as an overview of what will work for customers’ specific setups.

“We are convinced that this combination of factors means the channel will occupy a huge section of the market in the future, ensuring that more customers benefit from Ascom products and solutions. Mike, Matt and Lloyd will be integral to its success.”

Ascom is best known for its smart phones, which are ideally suited to mobile workers in sectors including healthcare, retail, manufacturing and hospitality.

Paul concludes: “Moving into the channel is a huge opportunity for Ascom UK and Mike, Matt and Lloyd have exactly the expertise required to maximise it. They have excellent track records at helping manufacturers to utilise the channel to ramp up sales by selecting only the highest quality, most technically adept partners so we cannot wait for them to get started.”
