Avanquest and PC Ware partner to ‘eliminate energy guzzling fax machines’

Avanquest Solutions, provider of corporate enterprise solutions and PC Ware Information Technologies, a leading independent European reseller, are partnering with the objective to ‘eliminate energy guzzling fax machines’ from the corporate workplace’.

The partnership will focus on Captaris RightFax as a ‘greener’ alternative to enterprise faxing coupled with built-in, high availability disaster recovery and data protection provided by Neverfail.

RightFax has enabled hundreds of business to reduce their carbon footprint by making their fax machines redundant. Paper costs have been saved and energy bills reduced.

By using a RightFax fax server, companies can securely and efficiently deliver business information from virtually any application via fax, email, print devices or over the Internet – all sent and received from the desktop.

Operating seamlessly in the background by constant synchronisation, Neverfail provides continuous availability for RightFax. If a problem occurs, Neverfail will take pre-emptive, corrective action to fix the issue without resorting to a full-system failover. Should a failover be unavoidable, for example to allow maintenance, Neverfail will automatically connect users to the passive server and business can continue without interruption.

Mike Chambers, Managing Director UK, PC-WARE said “With RightFax and Neverfail we feel we have a strong offering for businesses who want to meet today’s information management and communication needs while at the same time reducing its carbon footprint by making the fax machine and its associated paper use unnecessary.”

Chris Thompson, Managing Director, Avanquest Solutions comments, “In the enterprise environment fax machines can be eliminated, but the fax machine is not dead! By integrating fax software with multi function devices (MFDs) such as printers, scanners and copiers, hardware can be reduced to as little as one device per office floor. But smaller organisations still have the need to fax documents – faxing is secure, fast and provides a delivery receipt.”

Arrangements have been made that redundant fax machines will be donated to the British Heart Foundation and sold directly to customers through their High Street shops.

Carla Jones the Marketing Manager for Furniture and Electrical British Heart Foundation Shops Division says "We take donated furniture and electrical items to sell in our stores to raise funds to fight heart disease, the UK's biggest killer. Everything needs to be saleable.

Electrical items need to be in working order - and we do PAT test them prior to them going on sale."
