Avenir announces push in UK comms channel

Avenir Telecom, the UK business to business telecoms distributor, has announced a new initiative that will significantly ramp up its presence in the UK comms sales channel.

Currently celebrating its 20th anniversary as a major force in the mobile industry, in recent years Avenir has diversified into IT and mobile convergence, mobile accessories and now the fixed line telecommunications channel.

Ben Price joins Avenir this month from Nortel and will head up this new initiative as channel manager. He will oversee work across voice, data and IP convergence projects, while supporting and growing Avenir's dealer base

"Ben brings with him a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm which is perfectly matched against our ambitions to become as significant a player in the comms channel as we are in mobile," explained Avenir Telecom's MD, Andy Tow. "He has already made some impressive connections outside of our core dealer base and into the broader comms space, and we look forward to watching this develop further."

"I have worked in the networking and telecommunications industry for over 10 years," explained Price. "In this time I've gained a wide variety of knowledge and skills through employment with market leaders, most recently working with Nortel. I assisted Nortel in successfully launching its SMB product range into British Telecom through their Local Business division. Prior to that I worked for Telstra Europe and Weston Digital Technologies where I recruited and worked with many different independent resellers."
