Axis Launches Mobile Services

Axis Telecom has announced a partnership with Orange which will see Axis become one of Orange’s mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).

Working with Transatel, Orange’s MVNO aggravator, the deal will give Axis’ customers access to Orange’s extensive GSM and 3G networks, which reach 99% and 93% of the UK population respectively.

Hull-based Axis currently has over 14,000 business and residential customers and will be able to offer minute-and-text bundles at considerably cheaper rates than those offered by the main mobile providers.

Axis MD, David Meyers, explains, “Our new partnership as an Orange MVNO will mean great deals for customers. We are able to offer these cheaper packages as we can take full advantage of the excellent service coverage provided by the Orange network, without needing to pay expensive overhead maintenance costs.

“We’ll be offering a range of SIM-only and handset packages at prices which tend to be much cheaper than most of the larger operators. In addition, our SIM cards can be used in any handset – removing the need for it to be ‘unlocked’ to work on different networks.

“As businesses and individuals are trying to cut costs, a new handset every year might be seen as a luxury they can no longer afford. That said, an efficient and reliable mobile service is essential, so we think our ‘no frills’, cost effective approach will prove to be a great success.”

Axis’ mobile packages will start from as little as £7.50 per month.
