Azlan makes play for big data market with flash from violin memory

Azlan, the enterprise networking business unit of Computer 2000, has signed a UK distribution agreement with Violin Memory, the innovative provider of flash memory solutions for data centres and plans to work with the company to recruit new partners and drive sales opportunities around data centre optimisation, virtualisation and big data.

Violin Memory provides scalable flash memory arrays that offer exceptionally low latency and high bandwidth. They allow applications to process more information in less time and with fewer resources. They can be used to accelerate entire databases and deliver responses that are hundreds or even thousands of times faster than those offered by conventional spinning disk technology. In addition, Violin’s Flash Memory Arrays occupy a fraction of the space, consume far less power and deliver much faster return-on-investment than hard disk-based solutions.

Nigel Dunn, Azlan UK Director of Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking, said: “Azlan is building specific specialism in high performance next generation server and storage solutions to embrace the ‘Big Data’ opportunity with resellers. This agreement with Violin Memory is strategically important to us and our partners. It gives them access to the most advanced flash memory arrays in the world today and enables them to offer solutions that will transform performance and availability of data for their customers.

“Imagine what your customer could do if their performance was increased tenfold and their infrastructure decreased by 70 percent. This partnership enables Azlan to put resellers at the forefront of the strategic shift towards ‘all-silicon’ data centres and big data solutions that will really enable organisations to harness the full power and potential of information.”

Garry Veale, Managing Director of Violin Memory Europe, added: “The agreement with Azlan will allow Violin to reach out to more UK resellers, help them to understand the benefits of Violin Flash Memory Arrays and how they can transform storage performance with flash, accelerate applications and optimise their customer’s existing storage infrastructures. We have been hugely impressed by the focus, energy and drive of Azlan and by its in-house expertise and capabilities. We are excited about the prospects for this partnership. We will be working hard with Azlan to demonstrate the power and potential of our unique flash technology and to generate significant new business for channel partners.”

Azlan and has already scored one notable success with Violin technology, shipping an order for the acclaimed Violin Memory Array through a London-based HP reseller. The 10TB array is part of a VDI deployment in an international bank. Azlan’s Senior Solutions Architect, Ian Morgan-Russell, worked closely with the reseller and Violin Memory to meet the customer’s needs.
