Baxter Joins Converged Communication Solutions

Aberdeen-based Converged Communication Solutions has strengthened its business development team as it continues to expand its service offering.

The north-east ICT (information and communications technology) provider has appointed Bob Baxter as a business development executive. Baxter has been involved in the IT and telecoms sector for over 23 years.

Bob’s experience has been built up working with a number of IT and communications businesses, including some international brands. He spent six years working for marine and energy focused communications providers assisting oil and gas companies with satellite, terrestrial and wireless communication systems in on and offshore environments.

The firm, which specialises in providing Internet connections, telephone systems and IT support services, is currently celebrating its tenth anniversary and recently announced a half a million pound investment in its business as part of a move to new headquarters the Spires Business Park.

The independent firm has also further invested in expanding its connectivity network in Aberdeen following the unbundling of the Openreach exchange in Dyce and Westhill. Unbundling lets Converged, as an Internet service provider (ISP), place its own equipment directly into an exchange, with 24-hour access.

Commenting on his new role, Bob said: “Converged is a progressive company that continues to show the importance of investing in its network system and its technical support team. There have been other significant investments in the IT infrastructure in Aberdeen in the past year, which has been great to witness and can benefit many businesses operating in the city.

“Resilient network connections, along with comprehensive data storage and back-up systems, have become the cornerstones of smart business. The expansion of superfast Internet in Aberdeen through the Aberdeen CORE project and the launch of the brightsolid data centre in the city last year – both of which Converged has access to – help to comprehensively meet client needs.”

Neil Christie, managing director at Converged, said: “Bob brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Converged, built up with some of the leading names in the communications industry. His experience of working with major international companies will be of great value to our business as we continue to grow and expand.

“Through the investments we have made in Dyce and Westhill we have strengthened our service offering. Our physical presence in our six exchanges now provides greater connectivity choices and competitive rates to businesses in an area of Aberdeen that is witnessing a large amount of development. There are opportunities for firms to realise significant savings on their Internet connection, which, due to their importance, should be viewed as a utility and we would encourage firms to shop around when considering their connection options.”
