Greg Clarke, the former Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless Communications PLC has been appointed by Easynet as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Greg brings to Easynet many years’ experience of leading global multinational organisations. He holds a selection of high profile executive and non-executive board appointments, including Chairman of the Football league and Non-Executive Chair of the Met Office.

Greg is successor to Richard Atkins who steps down as Chairman with immediate effect in order to pursue other interests. Richard played a crucial role in ensuring Easynet’s smooth transition from its four years as a BSkyB-owned company to one jointly owned by Easynet’s management team and LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds PLC. Richard brought with him many years of senior business leadership experience and was a valuable asset to Easynet’s UK business.

David Rowe, Easynet’s CEO, said of the changes: “Richard has been a fantastic asset to our organisation with his wealth of expertise, but he feels it is now time for him to pursue life beyond Easynet. He hands over the mantle to Greg, whose vast levels of experience in the global business world will help us continue our mission of helping customers achieve competitive advantage through smart IT”.

Greg Clarke, Easynet Chairman, said: “Easynet is an efficient and innovative business with a strong customer-first ethos. It has very clear long- and short-term business objectives and a strong business plan, and is well-positioned for its own global growth and that of its customers. I’m joining the organisation at an extremely exciting time and am very pleased to be a part of the business”.

Richard Atkins said: “I am confident that I am leaving Easynet in good hands and I will remain an investor as I believe Easynet now has a significant opportunity to demonstrate real leadership in its chosen markets.”
