The firm cited BroadSoft as market leader both in its quarterly corporate assessment of BroadSoft, and its product assessment of the BroadSoft BroadWorks platform. According to Current Analysis, "BroadSoft has generated sufficient momentum in terms of overall deployments, product innovation, and top-tier customers to merit the 'market leader' moniker."
BroadSoft's customer base includes more than 1.75 million licensed users. The company recently added Hanaro and Korea Telecom to this list which includes Telstra, BellSouth, Verizon, MCI, T-Systems, PCCW, Primus, SingTel, TDC and Telefonica.
"The next-generation application capabilities of VoIP are critical for service providers to carve out competitive differentiation and drive revenues," said Joe McGarvey, principal analyst, Current Analysis and author of the reports. "While several competitors in the VoIP application server market can make claims of leadership in various aspects of the market, BroadSoft's momentum in terms of high-profile customer deployments and product innovation merit recognition as the overall market leader at this particular point in time."
The reports cite the integration of multiple functions into a single platform as a chief advantage of BroadWorks over competitive offerings.
The company has also increased its client-side capabilities in the past 12 months with the acquisition of application developer Carbon Twelve and introduced the BroadWorks Communicator; a Windows-based softphone. BroadSoft also was the first company to provide a commercially available IMS-compliant VoIP application server in early 2005.
