BT appoints new head of Indirect Partner Sales

BT today announced the appointment of Ricky Ricketts as head of Indirect Partner Sales. Phil Purssey moves into a newly created role within BT’s Specialist Partner Sales Group, with responsibility for proposition and mobility development.

Martin Roddy, director of BT’s Specialist Partner Sales Group said, “This is an exciting time for the channel, and BT is committed to working with partners to provide the support they need to succeed in this changing business environment. To reflect partners’ requirements we have made some internal changes which we believe will help us to work even more effectively with the partner channel moving forward.

“I am delighted to welcome Ricky in his new role as head of Indirect Partner Sales. Ricky has a wealth of expertise working with partners and resellers and will be charged with growing our business in this key route to market. To achieve these ambitions we will be committing high levels support to our partners over the coming months.

“At the same time, we need to provide them with the right products and solutions to help them meet the needs of their customers. Convergent solutions and Unified Communications are becoming rapidly more important and we are focusing our efforts on getting the right propositions to market. Phil Purssey has a crucial role in ensuring that our proposition strategy meets the needs of all customers, including our channel partners. BT is serious about working with partners who share this vision and have an appetite for these new markets.”

Ricky Ricketts commented, “As the market becomes more competitive, we need to change our business model to stay ahead. Convergence is happening all around us. Mobile companies are offering network and broadband, network organisations are offering internet capability and mobility services, and brokers are emerging who offer companies their telephony, mobile, Email, Instant Messaging and video, all as one package. We need to ensure we can take customers on the convergence journey and I am really looking forward to working with our partners, in what is the most exciting time in IT and communications industry history.”

Phil Purssey added, “Having the right propositions in place for our partners will help to differentiate their position in the market. With a £10 billion investment in the 21st Century Network, BT will be at the forefront of the IP revolution. We will have capabilities that seemed almost impossible a few years ago. We need to get these productised and out to our partners, fast.”

Both appointments take effect from May 14, 2007.
