BT Appoints Sally Davis as CEO of BT Wholesale

BT has appointed of Sally Davis as chief executive of BT Wholesale. Davis will take up her new position in September reporting to BT Group chief executive Ben Verwaayen.

BT has Europe’s largest wholesale business, delivering network services and solutions to more than 700 communications companies including fixed and mobile network operators, ISP’s and other service providers.

Sally Davis said, “This is a superb opportunity and I'm really looking forward to working with a talented team and leading such an important business for the company. The future for BT Wholesale is full of exciting possibilities in helping the nation’s communication companies provide the best possible range of services to their end customers.”

BT’s chief executive Ben Verwaayen welcomed the appointment, saying: “Sally has an exceptional level of experience and a proven track record in the communications industry on both sides of the Atlantic. This gives her a powerful insight into the needs and the opportunities of BT’s wholesale customers.”

“BT’s ability to appoint such an outstanding executive from within its own ranks demonstrates again the strength in depth of the company’s management team.”

Until recently Davis was BT’s Chief Portfolio Officer, leading the company’s migration to new broadband and networked IT services. Before joining BT in 1999, she held senior positions in several major communications companies, including Bell Atlantic in the US and Mercury Communications in the UK.

She replaces Dr Paul Reynolds, who leaves BT in September to take up the position of CEO of Telecom New Zealand.
