BT Merges & Re-Brands Prior Acquisitions

BT Business today said it will be formally merging BT Basilica and BT Lynx - two IT services providers that BT acquired in late 2007 - and re-branding the combined business as BT Engage IT.

BT Engage IT adds professional services and propositions including virtualisation, IT supply, unified communications and managed services to BT Business' core portfolio of product supply, support and service. The IT services allow UK businesses from start-ups through to medium-large sized firms, access to an innovative, strategic approach to using IT to beat the recession and put them in position for the upturn.

"In the current climate, IT has to step forward as a real asset enabling companies to do more with less. BT Business leads in helping firms re-evaluate existing IT resources and operating models to ride the current climate, counter the competition and increase productivity," said Nick Gorringe, managing director, BT Engage IT.

BT Engage IT is a 100% owned subsidiary of BT Group plc. It has more than 900 staff, 72 accredited MS engineers, 300 client engineers and 70 professional services consultants. The business has top tier partnerships with leading vendors HP, Cisco, Microsoft and IBM, holds accolades including "HP Most Accredited Partner" and was CRM Magazine's "IT Reseller of the Year 2008" for the second year running.

Customers include The National Trust, beCogent, Balfour Beatty, Cap Gemini, Tesco, Royal Air Force, Logica, Regus, Easy Group, Liverpool Victoria Insurance, Hamptons, WPP Group and Port of London Authority.

In a separate move, the existing dabs4work.com service will also rebrand as BT Business Direct
