BT Names JP Rangaswami as CIO

BT has appointed JP Rangaswami as chief information officer (CIO) for BT Global Services. BT Global Services works in 170 countries and is the fastest growing division within BT Group, supporting large businesses and organisations across the globe.

Mr Rangaswami will report to Andy Green, CEO, BT Global Services, and to Al-Noor Ramji, CEO of BT Exact, BT’s technology organisation. Mr Rangaswami will also join the Global Services executive committee, BT’s One IT information technology committee, and have a seat on the IT board.

“BT is fortunate to be adding someone of JP Rangaswami's calibre and experience to our IT leadership team,” said Andy Green. “His extensive international experience, relentless customer focus and innovative approach to emerging technologies and practices make him a great addition to our leadership team.”

JP Rangaswami is filling a position previously held by Sinclair Stockman. In his new role, Dr Stockman will work with the Chief Technology Office and One IT teams to set and lead world-class benchmarks for all work within BT Group. Stockman will also lead BT’s innovation programmes including the Microsoft Challenge and Accelerator Cups. In addition, he will help develop future leaders by working closely with technology-focused universities.
