Bulldog Offer 16 Meg Broadband

Bulldog Communications, the Cable & Wireless company, has announced that it has doubled the speed of its broadband service to up to 16 meg for consumers and businesses across the UK.

Bulldog’s DoubleSpeed Broadband service, based on the new ADSL2+ technology, offers download speeds of up to 16 meg for the price many people pay today for a 1 or 2 meg service. Upload speeds will perform at a ground-breaking 1 meg. The DoubleSpeed service is available to both existing and new customers and, as usual, comes with the Bulldog phone line.

New residential customers have a choice of two DoubleSpeed packages. New customers can purchase Anytime Plus for £9.75 for the first month or Unlimited Plus for £19.50 for the two months and will receive a free high-speed modem. Prices rise by £5 per month subsequently.

Business customers now have the option to purchase the new Small Business Plus package for £45 a month. This includes one Bulldog Business phone line, fast broadband at up to 16Mbp/s download and up to 1Mbp/s upload as well as a wireless router (£30). Small Business Plus customers subscribing to two additional phone lines receive the wireless router free of charge. The Small Business Plus package is available to existing customers for an activation fee of £80.

DoubleSpeed broadband is available across Bulldog’s entire footprint, so making ADSL2+ services available to more UK homes and businesses than any other broadband provider. As more exchanges are unbundled, 800 by end of September 2006, coverage will grow to over 50% of the UK households and businesses.

The launch follows a successful set of trials nationwide over several months and extensive investment in customer care and provisioning processes.

Andrew Morley, chief commercial officer of Bulldog Communications, comments,” For the first time, up to 16 meg is available to consumers and businesses so widely. Our trials show that it is not just heavy internet users who will benefit but anyone who wants to get the most out of the internet without incurring excessive cost. With DoubleSpeed broadband our customers will be able to download music in seconds and movies in minutes. Yet again, we have demonstrated that Bulldog is the UK broadband innovator."

In 2005 Bulldog fell foul of industry watchdog Ofcom for poor customer service though user now appear happy with the company.
