Butt Joins Westcon as EVP for EMEA

Westcon Group has swooped on former Avaya channel chief Jeremy Butt who has been appointed Executive Vice President of EMEA.

Butt will lead the distributor's newly converged European unified communications, European security and Africa/India/Middle East operations. He brings more than 20 years sales and marketing expertise, leading successful worldwide channel efforts at Avaya and Motorola.

Dean Douglas, President and Chief Executive Officer, Westcon Group, said: "For more than two decades Jeremy has built a reputation as one of the premier executives in the channel. During that time, Westcon has also strengthened its brand across EMEA. Jeremy is a great hire for us as he'll bring the right mix of experience and leadership necessary to power our next stage of growth."

As newly-appointed EMEA Executive Vice President, Butt will bring together separate regional business units into an EMEA regional unit. Responsible for strengthening partner relationships and expanding the reach of Westcon's Unified Communications and Security business practices, his remit is to drive profitability for new and existing customers and markets across the distributor's eco-system of partners.

Butt commented: "I've been fortunate enough to work closely with Westcon in EMEA on a number of occasions throughout my career. The company has lived up to its reputation as a customer-centric distributor. I'm proud to be the newest member of this winning team. Working together, I fully expect us to not only meet, but far exceed our aggressive goals for the region."

Jeremy Butt joined Avaya in 2008 and led the company's recruitment and integration of Nortel Enterprise Systems channel partners following the acquisition in 2009. At Motorola, he oversaw the company's PartnerSelect channel program and aligned new technology development with services and channel strategies for bringing new enterprise mobility solutions to market.

While at Avaya, Butt managed the company's 9,000 relationships with systems integrators, service providers, distributors, value-added resellers and solutions providers. He played a central role in the launch and ongoing success of Avaya Connect, the company's first global channel program.

In his new position Butt will report directly to Dean Douglas and will be based in Slough.

In a separate development Westcon Convergence UK general manager Tim Brooks has departed the business. A Crane veteran, he assumed his role one year after Crane was acquired by Westcon in 2007.
