C2000 Forms AV Specialist Business Unit

Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, is formally announcing the creation of the Audio-Visual (AV) specialist business unit following a successful six-month period of growth and development in the company’s audiovisual solutions sales.

The creation of this new business unit will mean that even more support will be provided for AV resellers, says Darren Sainsbury, who heads the new division as Business Unit Manager. “We have had a tremendous six months and the time has come to put even more focus and emphasis on the benefits that Computer 2000 can deliver for resellers that want to make the most of their audiovisual opportunities. Whether they are specialist resellers or addressing the small business and consumer markets, Computer 2000 has the expertise, the choice and the services to meet their needs.”

The company has seen sales of audiovisual products boom over the past six months as more resellers and retailers start to take advantage of the extended range and focused commitment to the market that the company has been making in this fast-growing sector of the market. At the beginning of thus year it invested in focused AV sales and made a number of strategic vendor signings. These initiatives, combined with further investment in resources and sales support, have delivered some very positive results with sales well ahead of the initial targets that were set for the business.

The reason for this success, says Sainsbury, is that more customers are starting to realise that Computer 2000 can provide a unique combination of specialist advice, product choice, highly efficient logistics and excellent sales and marketing support on AV products. “For any reseller or retailer selling audiovisual solutions, Computer 2000 really can do it all. We have a dedicated and focused team in place to provide pre-sales assistance, a fantastic range of vendors and the best stock profiling in the business. This combination of specialist and broadline capabilities is exactly what’s required in a market that is still growing and still offering more potential to many more of our customers.”

With sales of audiovisual products growing in both the SME and consumer markets, there is a greater breadth of opportunity now, Sainsbury notes. “The growth of digital media both in the home and in business is opening up the audiovisual market to many more of our customers. We can help them make the most of that potential and, at the same time, help our vendor partners reach a much wider market.”

Sainsbury expects the company’s success to accelerate as a result of the increased focus that the AV business unit will provide. Computer 2000 is planning to add new vendors to its portfolio in the coming months. “We’ve had a very good year so far and only see our sales growing from this point on – especially as we add new and significant product lines to our range. It’s an exciting time both for us and for our partners and customers.”

Computer 2000 has one of the largest portfolios of audiovisual products available from any UK distributor today. As well as Sony, Philips, Epson, Vogels it is a leading distributor for major vendors such as Toshiba, Acer, InFocus, ATEC, BenQ and Ergotron in all AV categories.

With a specialist team that is 100% focused on the audiovisual marketplace and the largest and most efficient logistics operation and stock holding capability in the IT distribution sector, Computer 2000 is ideally placed to meet all the needs of specialist and non-specialist resellers of audiovisual equipment all over the UK.
