C2000 Increases Focus on Credit with Board Appointment

Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has named Nick Tiltman as Credit Services Director in what is thought to be one of the first board-level appointments of a director with specific responsibility for credit management in the UK.

The new role has been created in recognition of the vitally important role that credit management is playing in the distribution business, says Managing Director of Computer 2000, Andy Gass. “We are delighted to welcome Nick onto the board. He is a highly experienced member of our management team with strong commercial awareness. In making this appointment we are demonstrating just how important an aspect of our business credit is today. For them, it means that they can be assured that credit is given the highest possible profile within our business and that our policies are always geared to meeting their needs.”

Tiltman will take on his UK board level responsibilities while continuing to carry out key functions of his role as Director of Credit Services for Tech Data Europe – a position he has held since 2005. Specifically, he will retain responsibility for credit strategy, credit insurance and risk management. Prior to taking up his current role, Tiltman spent three years as Director of Credit Services, Northern and Southern Regions. Before this he held the post of General Manager Credit at Computer 2000 for a period of four years. He has continued to oversee the credit management of the Computer 2000 as part of both his European roles.

Commenting on his appointment, Tiltman says: “This is an indication of Computer 2000’s commitment to providing the highest levels of credit services for our customers and proof of the value the company sees in credit management as a business driver. It is, as far as we are aware, the first time that a major UK distributor or IT business has made such an appointment. In making this appointment, Computer 2000 is sending a powerful and positive message to the market – namely that good credit management is now a vitally important part of its business and critical to its long-term success.”

Tiltman joined Tech Data in 1993 and has over 20 years of Credit Services experience in various industries including publishing, electronics manufacturing and distribution. He attended the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management (GSCFM) in the United States in 2000/2001 and was awarded the Executive Award with highest distinction and the designation of Certified Credit Executive. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Management in the UK and a Fellow of The Association of Credit Professionals and a dedicated exponent of the development and education of people.
