C2000 Look to New Broom to take Business to New Heights

Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has appointed Claudette Atkinson as General Manager PC Components and Supplies, and has set out a strategy aimed at further increasing its share of the systems builder sector and opening up new markets in industrial computing and manufacturing.

The company will also be looking to develop growth in the market for non-computing device assembly. “Computer 2000 has a strong and growing presence in both components and supplies and that is something we will continue to build upon”, says Atkinson. “But we also see opportunities in other areas where products that have traditionally been associated with computers, are increasingly being used to deliver added functionality to the end user customer.”

There are growing markets for memory and storage products in areas such as the digital photocopier market, personal video recording, CCTV and many other sectors and Atkinson believes that Computer 2000 is in a good position to develop these areas while continuing to serve its existing customer base.

“We have a tremendous opportunity at Computer 2000 in both the ‘traditional’ IT sector and in the developing digital device market. No distributor has more advanced logistics and supply-chain management or greater stock-holding capability. As well as meeting the needs of systems builders, resellers and retailers, and helping them to maximize their efficiency and sales, we have the scale and the capability to grow into new areas, opening up even more potential for our partners. Our aim is to add more value and to be of more value to all our partners.”

Atkinson has over 12 years experience in the components and industrial markets, having spent the past seven with Bell Micro Europe (formerly Ideal Hardware) and before that, five with Datrontech. For the last 18 months of her time at Bell, she was General Manager Industrial Sales and Products and prior to that performed similar roles in charge of components, networking and other products.

Welcoming her to Computer 2000, Interim Director of Volume Marketing at the company, Alice Smitheman, says: “With her vast experience in the components market, Claudette is exactly the right person to take strategy forward and start turning those plans into real action. We’re absolutely delighted to have her on board.”
