Cable & Wireless Signs Up Onetel in IP Technology Deal

Cable & Wireless has announced that it will provide Onetel with Internet Protocol (IP) technology as part of the service provider’s expanded business services portfolio for corporate customers. This reseller agreement will allow Onetel to provide its business customers with Cable & Wireless network systems under its own brand.

The new services portfolio provides Onetel’s customers with a high-speed and high-availability network. It will also enable them to reduce costs by migrating to a fully converged infrastructure.

Network services such as Voice over IP (VoIP) offer businesses the opportunity to cut costs and reduce complexity by moving their voice and data communications onto a single shared network.

Onetel will leverage the scale and reach of Cable & Wireless Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network with Quality of Service (IP-VPN QoS) infrastructure to offer its business customers the broadest range of managed data network services such as VoIP, video and collaborative working applications.

Eddie Buxton, director, Onetel Business Solutions, said: “We are increasing our focus on the high value business-to-business market and needed a strong partner in advanced IP networking technology. Cable & Wireless was chosen due to the scale of its network and proven IP-VPN capabilities.”

Alan Whelan, managing director, Carrier Services, Cable & Wireless, said: “We are delighted to help Onetel’s expansion into the business-to-business market with IP network services. This agreement builds upon our existing voice and data relationship and allows Onetel to focus on providing service excellence to its customers, without the costly infrastructure investment.”
