Camiant opens UK headquarters to meet policy control market demand

Networks & Network Services
Camiant, the provider of policy control and application assurance technology, has announced it has opened its European headquarters office in Maidenhead to meet the needs of its growing broadband operator customer base. This office supplements existing regional sales and support resources in Spain and Scotland.

The Maidenhead sales and customer support facility allows Camiant to more directly serve its customers and extend its reach to additional broadband operators in the region. Camiant’s continued success in North America and Europe in winning new wireless, fixed and cable accounts has resulted in major business growth and the expansion of its offices.

Camiant’s Policy Control Platform provides mobile broadband operators with immediate and cost effective relief to efficiently manage exploding data usage.

According to a new report by Analysys Mason, Mobile Broadband: Another Substitution Threat for Fixed Operators?, mobile broadband is an opportunity that mobile network operators (MNOs) cannot afford to miss, but they face some difficulties in keeping the momentum going. While increasing the capacity of networks is essential to avoid reductions in service quality, MNOs need to dissociate rises in network costs from the exponential increases in bandwidth demands that have already been seen. The report forecasts that by 2013, 47% of European broadband subscriptions will use mobile networks.

Camiant’s Policy Control Server, fully compliant with 3GPP’s Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) specifications, provides real time intelligence so that operators can dynamically allocate resources to maximize throughput within the limits of their existing networks, helping to control network growth-related capital expenditures and capitalize on premium, revenue generating new services.

Randy Fuller, vice president of business development for Camiant, commented: “In this tough economy, European operators are looking at policy control with great interest as a means to intelligently manage their network resources. In the case of mobile broadband, flat rate data plans and HSPA have caused usage to skyrocket and European operators need concrete solutions to help them better manage that growth while keeping their services profitable. Camiant is delighted to bring its expertise and its policy control server direct to operators in Europe with our new local facility.”

With its expanded presence, Camiant is well positioned to add new business while continuing to provide existing customers in the region with customer service excellence. The Maidenhead facility is Camiant’s fourth office to date.
