Capitoline Awarded Low Carbon Consultant Status

Capitoline LLP, an I.T. physical infrastructure design consultancy, say they have become the first IT services company to be awarded the prestigious Low Carbon Consultant status by CIBSE, the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.

The British government realised the need for an approval process that would recognise the engineering capabilities of companies and individuals to design and approve designs of buildings as meeting the requirements of the Building Regulations Part L (energy conservation) and the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, now both in force in the UK.

The government has approved the CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant scheme to be able to qualify designs and give energy conservation advice according the regulations described above.

Capitoline is the first company to apply this design expertise and qualification to the requirements of computer rooms and data centres. With data centres in particular often demanding more power than the local utility can supply, plus the rising cost of energy, electricity conservation in these areas is going to become one of the largest requirements in IT projects over the next five years.
