Capstan Announces IPECS Release 5.5

Horsham based LG-Ericsson distributor Capstan Communications has announced the release of software version 5.5 for their IPECS communications platform with Marketing Director Mike Smythe hailing the release as being ‘another step along the fast highway of LG Ericsson platform development’.

“With this new release our partners will be able to target even more customer applications and business opportunities.”

Smythe singles out five key developments within the version 5.5 announcement.

“The introduction of a desktop video telephone terminal running the LG-Ericsson Unified Comms software client and Phontage PC video conferencing software is a breakthrough for desk to desk video calling. There is a camera tilt feature built in and full colour screen is ideal for this application.

We are also launching a new Wi-Fi terminal with a colour screen and a robust 50 hours stand by time – an improvement allowed buy the use of a new high-density Li-Ion battery technology. The phone uses SIP and its mobile roaming feature means that it can automatically register with home and office Wi-Fi networks. Remarkably, this phone has a 30ms handover time using the LANCOM Wi-Fi infrastructure products we also supply our channel partners.

At the same time we have a new robust mobile DECT phone available with version 5.5 of IPECS. This has a 1.5 inch colour screen, 15 hours of talk time, a glove friendly keypad and is priced at just £249.00 RRP.

Lastly we have introduced two new IP handsets for the IPECS with multi-line displays and either 4 or 8 flex keys that can be assigned to features or work as DSS keys.”

Smythe concludes, Capstan Communications has been working with LG-Ericsson for 15 months testing the software so that it is ready for our launch date this month. Likewise we have tested all the new phones extensively in-house over the last four months so that our resellers can be assured everything works correctly on day one of the launch.”
