Cellcrypt Secures Conference Calls on Mobile Phones

Rapidly deployed solution to protect executives from mobile phone interception when using in-house conference calling

Cellcrypt, provider of encrypted mobile phone voice calling, today announced a solution for encrypting the voice calls of executives who dial in to in-house conference calls from mobile phones.

Organizations depend on conference calls to run their daily operations. However, they are vulnerable to interception and often represent an aggregated risk due to the nature of the calls such as Board and Executive Management Team calls, Intellectual Property discussions, high value business deal talks, crisis management calls or discussions concerning disaster scenarios and national security.

As workers become increasingly mobile, key conference call participants are often out of a secure office location when they are required to join a conference call. In addition, the increasing trend towards BYOD – bring your own devices to work – means that they are increasingly using a broader range of cell phones to access conference call services.

Cellcrypt’s secure mobile conference calling solution is enabled by encrypting voice calls between mobile devices running the Cellcrypt Mobile™ voice encryption application and Cellcrypt Enterprise Gateway™, an office-based server that interfaces to standard conference calling services running on in-house PBXs (Private Branch Exchanges). The capability can be deployed within a day.

Cellcrypt Enterprise Gateway manages up to 25 concurrent encrypted calls to Cellcrypt Mobile running on BlackBerry®, Android™, iPhone® or Nokia® smartphones. It connects these voice calls to an in-house PBX conference calling service and passes through standard voice prompts and DTMF tones to maintain full end user functionality.

“Conference calls are just as vulnerable as normal cell phone calls but the information discussed is more often sensitive because the topics discussed within conference calls are generally more important,” said Richard Greco, Cellcrypt CEO and Chairman. “This solution is our response to customers who have asked for a very simple and rapid deployment of secure conference calling capability. In addition, if they access conference calls via our Wi-Fi capability then they can also save call charges which can be significant especially when travelling abroad.”

Cellcrypt Mobile provides encrypted voice calling for off-the-shelf cell phones using government-certified security in an easy-to-use downloadable application that makes highly secure calling as easy as a normal phone call. It is a software-only solution that uses the IP data channel and works over cellular (2G (GPRS/ EDGE), 3G (HSPA, CDMA/EV-DO), and 4G), Wi-Fi™ and satellite networks. The Cellcrypt product is validated to FIPS 140-2 standard, approved by the US National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST), and Cellcrypt Mobile Baseline is in evaluation by UK CESG.
