Channel S Gets Interactive With Viewers

Channel S, the only Bengali language channel in the UK and Europe, has partnered with Oxygen8 Communications, the global mobile; voice and billing specialist, to provide Channel S Television with a voice platform for its interactive television channel that broadcasts live to around 70,000 UK viewers alone.

Channel S caters for British Bangladeshis providing a mixture of news, views, advice and entertainment programmes. The Oxygen8 Communications voice platform provides Channel S viewers with the ability to run phone-ins and on-air competitions with viewers in order to enhance interaction with its audience and make them an integral part of the programming format.

Taz Choudhury, Chief Executive at Channel S Television, says, “We were looking for a voice platform which would allow us to invite our viewers to comment on programmes as well as participate with live programmes. Oxygen8 Communications have broad industry expertise, technical skills and a proven infrastructure which gave us great confidence in their ability to deliver a secure, reliable and flexible voice platform that enables us to get more interactive with our viewers and build brand loyalty.”

Taz Choudhury continues, “We have been very pleased with the service from Oxygen8 Communications; they have excellent knowledge of the latest Ofcom regulations and are able to ensure that we are following best practice industry guidelines at all times. They provide outstanding customer service and we believe their attitude towards customer service is why our relationship works so well, we speak with them on a regular basis, and they are always available if we have any queries or questions.”

Taz Choudhury concludes, “Moving forward we will be utilising Oxygen8’s knowledge and experience in the mobile sector to develop a mobile platform. This will provide us with another new medium for interacting with our viewers, both on air and off-air, and gives us the opportunity to broaden the range of services we can deliver.”
