Channel Telecom is first to implement FCS common CDR format

Networks & Network Services
Business telecoms services provider Channel Telecom says it is the first wholesale supplier of network services to implement the new common CDR (charging data record) standard approved by the Federation of Communication Services (FCS). Channel Telecom is a member of the FCS and encourages its channel partners to take membership as well.

Channel Telecom will now be able to take CDRs from multiple network carriers and then convert them into the one common FCS standard. As Channel Telecom has many resellers using various platforms, the new common CDR standard will make it easy for reseller partners to process CDRs that are compatible with billing platforms from the five leading billing suppliers. This includes Union Street’s aBILLity billing suite, Channel Telecom’s preferred billing solution supplier.

The latest version of aBILLity is able to export wholesale CDRs in the new FCS standardised format and Channel Telecom has implemented the change to make the whole billing process easier and more streamlined for its reseller partners. This will prove to be a real advantage when setting up or moving new partners as the whole process is a lot simpler.

Commenting on the change, Clifford Norton, Managing Director of Channel Telecom said, “The next step is to get our suppliers to follow us, but right now all our partner know we offer the standard CDR whatever the carrier may be. Once again we are demonstrating that Channel Telecom is a market leading business and an innovator in the supply of wholesale network services to the channel. We want to offer the best service delivery and support with competitive pricing which our partners connate find elsewhere. Call billing is a major part of our resellers’ business model and the implementation of the common CDR format will streamline the process for the channel. We have other major developments planned for 2013 providing our partners with new, profitable services.”
