CharityTalk launches “Calls-for-Causes” to help fund charities

UK communications provider Comms Factory Group has today launched CharityTalk, an initiative which enables its customers to donate money to a charity of their choice through using their phone or broadband in the normal way. The first service of its kind in the UK, CharityTalk will donate a percentage of its own profits to nominated charities based on the phone or broadband usage of a customer.

Once a charity has registered with CharityTalk, any supporter or friend can sign up to the home phone and broadband service, which will enable the charity to receive regular donations. This desire to support the not-for-profit sector stems from CharityTalk’s own passion for good causes: Employees recently completed the 3 Peaks Challenge by climbing the three tallest UK Mountains within 24 hours in aid of a local charity.

With the number of UK-wide charitable donations down 11 per cent at the start of 2010 from the same period last year, CharityTalk feels businesses have a social responsibility to aid charities and not-for-profit organisations. As such, CharityTalk is working to support the future of charity projects and fundraising events.

Owen Bloodworth, Managing Director of CharityTalk comments: “This is a critical time for charitable organisations. Without continued support from the public and businesses, charities will suffer from a shortfall in funding. By signing up to our service, each charity will benefit from receiving long term, sustainable income and the opportunity to promote this new service to their current supporters. Customers are not only buying into a good product, but also a service which reflects their own interests and beliefs.”

In addition to the ongoing charity donation, CharityTalk customers will benefit from broadband free for 3 months, free weekend calls, guaranteed call savings against BT, and importantly, free UK-based customer and technical support via a 0800 number service.

CharityTalk also provides customers with simple online billing and Premium Rate Call Barring to stop unauthorised calls, completely free of charge.

Part of the Comms Factory Group of companies, CharityTalk is the latest addition to a growing family of user-friendly services. It follows in the footsteps of Yourcalls.net which was named the 'Fixed Service Provider of the Year 2007', by the Federation of Communication Services.
